"Steve Deal is a worship leader at Christian City Church in Atlanta and has been a Christian, songwriter, worship leader at C3 for 18 years releasing a bunch of really lousy worship records in the 90's and a bunch of really good worship albums over the last few years, all available for free at c3worship.com. He is an Australian who felt the call to move to Atlanta with his wife and 3 kids in 2000 and loves life there! " 1. What does worship mean to you?
Everything!!!
Love is a 2 way street, it needs to be requited but worship is one way,
from us to God - he doesn't worship back. It puts us in our place and
him in his, the created bowing before the creator, the lesser
worshipping the greater. Worship is not something that we do to feel
good, it's all about God and honoring him but there is something about
it that does make us feel right and good in so many ways as a result
but that isn't what it's about. It's about God. Worship is also about
unceasingly honoring God, worshipping him constantly with singing, good
works like looking after orphans, widows, honoring God in all we do
like working in our jobs as unto the Lord, following Jesus' lead all
day long and then coming back together as a body in the house of God to
worship together corporately.
Corporately,
I think it binds a body of believers together in many ways. It causes
creativity to bubble up inside the worshipper in the forms of singing
new songs, dance, whatever. It also causes people to focus on God, off
the world and all is worries and when that happens, communion with God
ensues. I think when God is honored by people, God is pleased and good
things happen.
Seeing
God's grace all around me in peoples lives and stories but mostly
this...when you worship in spirit and in truth, knowing more of the
truth of who God is, the more I find out about him, the more I get to
know him, the more of him that is revealed...that's when I freak out
and find myself blown away by God with such a strong desire to worship
at his feet.
Jesus
should be on the tip of my tongue all the time. My mind drifts closer
to him throughout the day and I think people just see that or hear it.
Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Also in my
lifestyle, the way I act should represent who I worship. It's a massive part of my life. It's what I love to do and also what I'm employed to do at my church. It's my main outlet of creativity as I find myself writing songs and finding new ways to worship Jesus. It has caused me to know God in a more intimate and deep way and that just changes you into a more stable, strong, loving person. Trackback(0)
