This month we asked our 5Questions to one of the pastors at New Hope Chapel in Arnold, Maryland, Justin Hibbard. Justin is just 26 years old! This is what he had to say..

I've been leading worship at New Hope Chapel since 2004.  I'm native to the Annapolis area, and have a wife Karlene and a daughter Annalía.  I also teach Spanish at Annapolis Area Christian School.  I love music and have been playing instruments since I was 4, but nothing is more satisfying than using my talents to glorify the Lord and lead others in worship.

1. What does worship mean to you?
Worship is the intentional expression of praise, adoration, lamentation, and thanksgiving aimed at glorifying God in a holy and pleasing manner.

2. What do you think is the result of worship?
The result of worship is that our hearts are more aligned with God's, and we reflect His glorious image.

3. What causes you to worship?
When I know that my life is glorifying God and I'm walking in step with Him, I can't help but worship.

4. How can worship be displayed in your life?
My prayer is that people will see the glory of God displayed in my life.  I want the people I spend time with impacted in their relationship with the Lord.  For me, worship means that in every act, I have to intentionally do it to glorify God.  Whether it's singing praises or driving my car, when I consciously and intentionally do it to glorify God in a way that's pleasing to Him, I know that I am worshiping the Lord and it's being displayed in my life.

5. How has worship impacted you?
For me, understanding what worship is has helped me to actually put it into practice.  It has shown me that worship is more than just what happens at church or happens when I sing.  Worship can happen in any setting, and because the Holy Spirit indwells within me and I'm constantly in His presence, I need to glorify Him.  Worship has impacted who I am, and I pray that as I continue to mature as a Christian, that my intentional expressions of praise will more and more become my habit, so that I can't help but glorify the Lord.
